Welcome to “I think about it all the time”, a new miniseries I’ll be posting whenever I want in which I just compile a list of things that I think about all the time— not necessarily good or bad things, just things I think about all the time.
Yes, the title is a reference to the Charli song “I think about it all the time”, but it has nothing to do with considering having a child, which the song suggests.
ROSALÍA - BIZCOCHITO (toy phone version)
I wish this was streaming so badly. I absolutely adore this. These are the kinds of noises that scratch a certain itch in my brain I can’t really get anywhere else.
I know it’s the intention of the remix, but it reminds me so much of playing Snake on my mom’s Nokia and riding on the school bus in elementary school. There was this one girl on my bus who had a Razr phone, and she would literally let me play with it on the ride home every day and scroll through different ringtones that you could purchase. Why did she let me do that? Also, how much money did I rack up on her parents’ bill by connecting to the internet? Really makes you think.
Rosalía Chewing to Bizcochito
I adore her.
Lobster Spaghetti from Joe Beef
This is, no exaggeration, hands down, maybe the best dish I have ever eaten in my life.
I spent a weekend eating in Montreal earlier this year (if you need recommendations for Montreal, let me know, some of my favorite foods were consumed here). Sean is very very very good at picking restaurants and getting reservations and stuff, and I usually study menus before going to any restaurant because I have very stupid and specific food aversions, but for some reason I didn’t think to look into this one. When we were handed the menus, I kinda started panicking because I couldn’t see anything that wowed me or felt comfy for me to eat. This was made worse when we ordered this goat cheese appetizer, which I will be honest, is one of the worst things I’ve ever eaten1. It wasn’t bad, it was just…not to be a child…but like, sour leaves? And I like stinky cheeses a lot. I don’t know what the deal was here.
Anyway, as a last resort, I ordered the lobster pasta, which is apparently what they’re famous for. Lobster is the kind of food that I never order anywhere, but every time I eat it, I’m like “oh right, lobster is so good”. At first bite, I literally wanted to cry. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente. Literally so incredibly comforting, exactly what was needed on that night when it was well below freezing outside. It warmed my heart in that it was so good but also that it tasted like eating an entire stick of butter.
Whenever I am hungry I think about this dish, and I think it’s ridiculous that I must travel to a whole other country to eat it and also that it seems so insanely difficult to cook.2
Keeping my passport up to date, just in case I’m craving it to the degree that I will literally book a flight to go eat it and then fly home.
“Love in this Club (ft. Young Jeezy)” by Usher
Usher’s (excellent) Super Bowl halftime show this year made something shift in my brain and reminded of this song. With every new season and every new mood I make a new playlist, and this has found its way onto every single one of them. I don’t know what it is about it, but I truly think this is one of the greatest songs ever made. It’s so happy. It’s so romantic. It is everything.
I live one and a half plays of “Love in this Club” away from my local CVS, and one time I took the long way to and from CVS so I could listen to it approximately four times in a row. It’s magic.
It also reminds me of the gorgeous ending of Magic Mike’s Last Dance (one of my favorite movie series of all time tbh) and also a time when I was in Planet Hollywood (or maybe Hard Rock Cafe?) in Times Square as a kid and they had the music video playing on TVs throughout the restaurant. Terrible food. Excellent ambiance.

idk.
Vin Diesel - Stay (Originally performed by Rihanna)
I’m in the camp that every action star should be in a musical– they understand choreography, usually are like, very good at being directed I think?
I genuinely think Vin Diesel would be great in a musical– apparently he was going to do Guys and Dolls with Spielberg? Okayyy perfect casting.
Full disclosure, I don’t think this video is funny (and I’m pretty sure it was in tribute to the late Paul Walker), it just awakens a certain emotion in me I can’t really place. Not sadness, it’s just really really endearing how raw and sincere and cathartic this performance is.
Also, “Stay by Rihanna ft. Mikky Ekko”, like “Love in this Club”, is one of those songs that I’m like “Oh yeah, that’s a really really good song” every time I hear it.
Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages
When watching Risky Business for the first time and Tom Cruise slid into the room in his socks, I was like “Damn, why isn’t he in a musical?”. And then I REMEMBERED3.
As stated above, every action star should be in a musical.
Richard Kind
I love Richard Kind. I love his face. I love his voice. I love his laugh. Every time I see him, it literally fills me with so much overwhelming joy.
I’m kicking my feet and blushing right now.
Pomeranians Spinning
I follow a ridiculous amount of Pomeranians on Instagram, most of which live in Korea or Japan and sometimes some of them hang out with each other. There are too many for me to actually recommend any specific ones, but here is one of my favorite videos of one of my favorite guys Song Bom.
There is an interesting thing that happens specifically with Pomeranians— they spin around very fast because they just want attention.
Please look up videos of Pomeranians spinning, I assure you, you will be obsessed.
Thanks for reading this edition of “I think about it all the time”.
I hope you think about these things too now.
Some other things on the list of the worst things I’ve ever eaten: Do not eat the brisket at Legoland. Do not eat the Fruity Pebbles churro at Universal Studios Hollywood.
I could probably do it, I just really really do not want to boil a lobster. I don’t think I could handle that.
I think Rock of Ages has the potential to be considered an okay movie. I believe I could make a good movie out of this. Sue me.
Joe Beef is the best.
